In San Francisco, July is early summer! Here, you can come take a tour of the San Francisco Ferry Plaza Farmers Market with Jen and learn how to select the very best fruits and vegetables of the season. Then the class will come back to school to prepare delicious dishes with the fresh produce. (Although this Weekend Workshop features some fish and chicken, it is quite suitable for vegetarians.) Together with your fellow students you will be making such recipes as Homemade Tagliatelle with Fresh Fava Bean Sauce Piadine with Blue Cheese Little Gem Salad; Crispy Zucchini with Roasted Tomato Vinaigrette; Smoked Cheddar-Stuffed Chicken with Spicy Cabbage Slaw, and Strawberry-Rhubarb Tarts with Fresh Goats Cheese Ice Cream. Please note that the Saturday class will begin with a tour of the Farmers Market at 9 a.m.

The end of September is when you will find the ripest and best tasting heirloom tomatoes, shelling beans, peaches, sweet corn and all the other great summer produce in the Farmers Market. All the best meals start with the freshest ingredients! With Jen you will tour the Ferry Plaza Farmers Market, meet some of the local growers, and purchase top quality fruits and vegetables -- fish and chicken. Then, you will come to the School to cook with these outstanding ingredients for two days. Some of the dishes the class will be preparing are Fritto Misto with Beans, Artichokes and Fennel; Flatbreads with Wild Nettles and Fontina; Chilled Mussel and Artichoke Salad; Grilled Avocados and Tomatoes with Basil Pesto; Peach and Pecan Upside-Down Cake with Fresh Peach Ice Cream.
